Karl Marx and Communism

Karl maxes ideas on communism was that the workers should control the wealth and power equally. He said that capitalism was the seed to its own destruction. Karl wrote thousands of articles and tons of books including his famous communist manifesto in which he writes "works of the world unite". Karl wanted communism to spread to the whole world because he felt that everyone would prosper. Karl viewed rich capitalist as the "bad guy" and the lower class workers and liberals as the "good guys". He thought that it was unfair that the fewer rich class lived in wealth while the workers took orders when they did all the work. Karl Marx died of disease in 1883 but his ideas on communism changed the world.

Karl Marx and the industrail revolution

Karl Marx didn't approve of the industrial revolution one bit. He felt that industrialism would bring society into chaos. Karl thought that the workers shouldn't be treated the way they were. Seeing as there were more workers than rich factory owners Karl felt that the "workers of the world should unite". This is what inspired Karl Max to found communism. Communism was borne from the ideals of Marx in which wealth would be distributed from the workers ability to the workers need. Karl though long dead inspired other countries to try this form of government in many cases it was not very successful.

Nationalism

Nationalism is the devotion and loyalty to one's own nation; patriotism. I display nationalism by wearing shirts that have my the American flag on them and by just being proud of my country. Before Italy became Italy it was just a property of the ottoman empire. During 1815 Italy was no longer content with being ruled by another country (the ottomans) and therefore everything was divided and in chaos. After 1848, Italian nationalists looked to the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia for leadership. Piedmont-Sardinia was the largest and most powerful of the Italian states. The kingdom had also adopted a liberal constitution in 1848. With careful diplomacy and well-chosen alliances and nationalistic words, he achieved that expansion. Almost as a coincidence, he also achieved the unification of Italy. Mazzini also distrusted his prime minister Cavour. He believed correctly that Cavour wanted to strengthen Sardinia’s power, not to unite Italy. But this wasn't the end to there problems they also suffered from a falling economy.

Simon Bolivar

Simon Bolivar was born in Caracas on July 24, 1783. When he grew older He traveled extensively to France Italy and the United States there he grew very interested in the ideals of figures like Locke and Voltaire. Soon after he was convinced that he was destined to liberate south America. Bolivia was named after him because he was famous for liberating almost all of south America. He was fighting Spain because he believed in the freedom of south America and its people.

The Reign of Terror

The reign of terror all began when a radical group called the Jacobin's who during the revolution gained power by rallying the people and promising change. This is when Maximilien Robespierre slowly started to gain power into his own hands, his first order of business was to wipe out any reminders of before the revolution and the monarchy he even redid the calender with no Sunday! The real trouble started in the summer of 1793, when Robespierre was elected leader of the Committee of Public Safety. His job was to decide who were enemy's of the republic. Robespierre when made with power thousands were beheaded by the guillotine soon he even started killing his own officials. By the end of 1994 the National Convention was weary of Robespierre's reign and turned on him. The National Convention then assigned 5 men to power called the directory who although were corrupt made one good decision: they placed Napoleon Bonaparte as head of the army.
